Quick and Easy! A Crochet Gift for Any Occasion

Today’s post is all about quick and easy crochet patterns for the kitchen. My very first crochet project was a dish cloth. The finished project was extremely satisfying. Not only was it pretty but it also had a purpose. Over the years I have made dish clothes using all kinds of stitches. The beauty of dish clothes is you can make them as big or as small as you want them. They also make simple and quick gifts for all occasions!

Since making dish clothes I have also looked into other patterns for the kitchen. While I have found many cute creations my favorite and most useful pattern has been the crochet spiral scrubby. The spiral scrubby is a great project to use up all those scrap pieces of cotton laying around since they use a very small amount of yarn. The spiral look also lends them well to mixing and matching different colors of cotton. I could spend hours creating these little gems for the kitchen.

This year I wanted to create my very own Christmas gift baskets. It occurred to me that almost everyone needs dish clothes and kitchen scrubbies. After some digging I found a dishcloth that provided the texture and look that was simple but impressive. I decided to pair it with a scrubby to make a little gift set. But I didn’t stop there. Luckily I have been crocheting baskets of all sizes to organize the clutter in my bathroom. I thought I could make a mini basket that would be the perfect size for displaying the dishcloth and scrubby. Thus my quick and easy kitchen gift set came to life. I fell in love with the final product! I am seriously considering making a set that will sit in my kitchen simply for looks.

The following patterns can be paired together to make a lovely gift basket for that special person. Perhaps you needs a quick gift for a co-worker or your child’s school teacher. Maybe you want to get a head start on Christmas gifts. Whatever the reason these patterns will combine to provide the perfect gift!

A Simple Dishcloth!

I have made dishcloths using all kinds of stitches and sizes but this has to be my all time favorite. It is a really simple pattern that is sure to impress even the pickiest people. Using a combination of single and double crochet the pattern is really easy to follow. I have chose to use a single crochet border but you could leave the border out. You could even experiment with different borders and color combinations. Let your creativity run wild to make this dishcloth yours!

A Unique Twist To The Scrubby!

I just love these scrubbies! I have made several over the years. I always have one ready for those tough frying pans that I would rather not scrub with an abrasive scrubby. I would not say it would replace the SOS pad but the ridges created by working in the back loops give this scrubby some extra scrubbing power. These work up easily! If you need to work on your increasing and decreasing this is the project to get you on your way.
